Apple at the dentist: First practice with Mac OS X without Windows.

Practice software for Apple Mac OS X in the practice. In Düsseldorf, the first dental practice to completely dispense with the use of Windows systems was opened in collaboration with Apple specialist Dirk Küpper. The entire administration of the dental practice as well as all professional and specialist equipment is controlled using the Apple Mac OS X operating system. The owner of the dental practice is extremely satisfied with the results so far: "As the Apple systems mostly run without any problems, hardly any downtime due to maintenance interruptions is to be expected. The long interval before they become technically obsolete and need to be replaced also pays off. In addition, the low energy consumption is another factor that keeps operating costs low." You can read the full story of the Düsseldorf dental practice on the Website by Dirk Küpper. Update: In cooperation with Dirk Küpper, I have published the software solution gFM-Dental, which can be used to perform constancy testing of diagnostic monitors of digital X-ray devices under Apple Mac OS X.

  1. My ophthalmologist, a group practice with 5 ophthalmologists, has only been using Apple for several years.
The receptionists have older Apples to operate. They looked like the first MacIntosh, small gray and white screen boxes.
When I visited one of the doctors' rooms two years ago, there was an iMac G3 on the floor. I was told that it still had to be fixed up.
Everything in the group practice is networked. The printer is somewhere on a shelf, WLAN with all computers.
The four doctors, and one female doctor, are totally into Apple. The oldest doctor is probably approaching 60.
